2017's Must Have Games At The Best Prices!
New release Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy has stormed to the top of the UK gaming chart on PlayStation 4 as the format's biggest-selling game of the year so far. One of the original PlayStation mascots from 20-odd years ago, the revisited platform game shows there is still plenty of love for the classics when handled with respect.
The Activision arcade title topped Horizon Zero Dawn's sales, which is perhaps the critics' favourite for game of the year, with its expansive world and plenty of mechanical aliens to track and hunt. The Guerrilla Games exclusive has sold around 3.5 million copies around the world, proving that there is also strong demand for new ideas and not just endless sequels.
For Xbox One gamers, the wait goes on for the big exclusives and the upcoming Xbox One X model, but Microsoft's console still has plenty of third party support with NBA 2K17, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Mass Effect: Andromeda all lighting up the charts. One of the most challenging games of the year has just arrived in the form of Elite: Dangerous. The space epic can now be played without needing a high-spec PC and opens up the galaxy to explore and conquer.
Over on Nintendo's new Switch console, hardware sales and interest remain strong as the company continues to launch a steady stream of hits. The latest arrival is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, joining Zelda Breath of the Wild and Arms as staples at the top of the charts. However, all eyes will be on the Christmas launch of Super Mario Odyssey which should be the best seller on the new console yet.
Looking out for the biggest games yet to come in 2017, Star Wars Battlefront II is likely to be the biggest seller across all formats, although Call of Duty: WWII might win back gamers who were getting bored of the Modern Warfare series.
